With gtavicemods.com no longer open you cannot simply download via the VCM Manager. Instead you need to download .vcm files and manually load them into the VCM Manager. This mini tutorial is aimed at showing you how. You can obtain the Vice City Mod Manager from the downloads section

Installing a Modification

You’ve downloaded a zip file from your favourite Vice City site which includes a .vcm file. This file first needs to be extracted to the VCM Manager’s mod directory.

Firstly you need something to extract the file such as WinZip. If you do not have it then you can download it from winzip.com.

Once you’ve opened the zip file up you’ll be presented with something similar to the above. You need to select the .vcm file and click the “Extract” button located on the toolbar.

You now need to browse to the VCM modifications folder. Typically this will be “C:\Program Files\vcmm\mods\vcm\”. If it’s any different then you most likely will know where.

Once you’re there hit the extract button and the VCM file will fly into place. Close down WinZip and load up the VCM Manager located in your Start Menu.

Once that’s loaded up you’ll be presented with the VCM Manager listing all the modifications you have available to install.

Now you need to select the modification that you want to install and click the “Install” button on the toolbar.

If you’re installing a general modification then that’s all you need to do. If you’re installing a vehicle modification then a box will pop up asking you to select the vehicle you want to replace.

Just select the name of the vehicle you want to replace and click the “Install” button. The program will keep you waiting for a few seconds and then it’ll all be installed.

Now you can boot up Vice City using the “Play Vice” button on the VCM Manager toolbar and go searching for the modification you’ve installed

Uninstalling a Modification

Removing a modification you’ve installed couldn’t be easier. Simply open up the VCM Manager, select the mod which you want to remove and click the “Uninstall” button on the toolbar.
